Human hair normally grows for about one centimeter a month although some people grow hair faster than others do. When conditions are not ideal, hair growth is affected. It is a good thing that there are natural hair growth remedies available around the house and from specialty shops to stimulate hair growth. Many things contribute to normal hair growth. It includes your genetic makeup, your physical and mental health, your diet and your lifestyle. Properly caring for the hair is also a factor in stimulating hair growth. Stress, age, regular lack of sleep, illnesses, and strong chemicals from hair care products are just some of the factors that affect the condition of your hair, which could lead to a slowdown of hair growth or loss of hair. Let us take a look at some of the remedies that are available for you to have a full head of lustrous and thick hair.
10. Remove Stress
Stress is a major contributor to hair loss. To stimulate your hair growth, keep your stress level low. You can do this by identifying the stress-inducers in your life and avoiding them. Practice time management, socialize more, do meditation, yoga, bicycling, laugh more often, do deep breathing exercises, get a pet or engage in a hobby. When you remove or lower your level of stress, you will feel happier and more active, which according to scientific studies could actually make your hair grow normally, if not faster.
9. Exercise and Healthy Diet
A healthy diet and exercise is not only a natural hair growth remedy, these activities contribute to your general well-being. Exercise stimulates the normal functioning of your body organs, which help in physiological and mental rejuvenation – factors that contribute greatly to a healthy body. Together with a healthy diet, you supply your body with the right amount of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin E, Zinc, Vitamin H or biotin, and Iron.
8. Scalp Massage
A good scalp massage increases blood circulate and stimulates the hair follicles. It allows the hair cells to receive more oxygen to stimulate hair growth. A few drops of virgin coconut oil or a blend of three drops of tea tree oil and one tablespoon of castor oil will act as antiseptic as well as help your fingers move more fluidly along your scalp without tearing the hair. Spread the oil onto your scalp and move your fingers in a circular motion all over your head, working the oil deep into your scalp. Massage your scalp for five minutes before you shampoo and condition your hair. Massage your scalp twice a day if you have the time.
7. Deep Cleansing for the Scalp
The oils and dead skin cells from the scalp can build up around the hair follicles, thus suffocating them and preventing new hair growth or even contributing to hair loss. A clarifying shampoo removes scalp build up. Work up the clarifying shampoo into a rich lather and massage it onto your scalp for at least two minutes before you thoroughly wash it off. It is advisable to use the clarifying shampoo twice a day for one week then once a day for maintenance and help keep your scalp clean.
6. Vitamin Supplements
Sometimes it is difficult to supply all the nutrients you need for healthy hair growth. Taking vitamin supplements will do the trick. To keep you hair healthy, thick and bouncy and to promote faster hair growth, you should provide daily dietary supplements such as protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, particularly vitamin B6, beta-carotene and vitamin E
5. Lime Juice, Fenugreek Seeds and Almond Oil
This combination of natural ingredients is employed in Ayuverdic home remedies as a hair growth stimulant. Crush one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds finely in a mortar and pestle. Add four tablespoons of natural almond oil and two tablespoons of lime juice into the crushed fenugreek seeds and stir to blend the ingredients thoroughly. Apply this mixture to your scalp and the roots of your hair. Massage your scalp for two minutes before leaving the oil on your hair for an additional 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse the oil with water and wash your hair with a gentle shampoo. Do not use a hair dryer to dry your hair. Use the treatment oil at least once a day.
4. Lime Juice, Rosemary Essential Oil and Egg Yolks
This is a richer Ayuverdic home remedy for hair growth with the addition of egg yolks. In a glass bowl combine ¼-teaspoon rosemary essential oil, three teaspoons lemon juice and two egg yolks. Stir the mixture until well blended and apply to the hair roots and the scalp, working the mixture into the scalp with a gentle massage for two to three minutes. Allow the mixture to work its magic for an additional 25 to 30 minutes before you rinse it off with cool water.
