Carrier oil is the base oil that binds the rest of the ingredients. Most recipes for body scrub recommends 1/3 cup of carrier oil for each batch. Several types of carrier oils are available, including sunflower oil, grape seed oil, sweet almond oil, macadamia nut oil, kukui or candle nut oil and hazelnut oil. Of these, hazel nut, macadamia nut and grape seed oils leave a thin film on your skin while the rest are thin and easily absorbed. All of these oils have a 12-month shelf life.
